Getting to Know Our Lab: Timothy George Mcburney-Lin

Question 1: What is your position at the Wildlife and Conservation Economics Lab and what does that entail?

I work as the GIS specialist for the wildlife conservation lab, finding, handling and analyzing geospatial data for all the projects whenever necessary.

 

Question 2: What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on a vegetation analysis of Southern India to compare allocation of crops on a temporal scale.

 

Question 3: What makes you passionate about this area of study?

I am passionate about this area of study because I am passionate about wildlife conservation and the interrelationship between climate change and wildlife.

 

Question 4: What is your favorite natural space, near or far?

My favourite natural space is the expansive rain forests on Vancouver Island, most notably the exclusive surfing destination: Tofino

 

Question 5:What are some of your hobbies?

When the weather is right I enjoy surfing, climbing, skiing, and anything else outdoors. On rainy days I read books and watch movies in my VW Eurovan, or play music with my friends.
